About

Over the last 89 years, GBCT has produced 390+ plays. Once a wandering troupe performing in schools and park lodges, the group found a home in the charming Robert Lee Brault Playhouse. Purchased by GBCT in 1966, our building is a 155+-year-old former church with an acoustically-perfect auditorium and a 23-foot open-end stage.

Between September and May, GBCT produces four full-length plays – typically a mix of comedies, dramas, and historical pieces. Throughout the year, we also host several staged play readings, which are free to the public and supported by arts grants and community donations.

As a community theater, GBCT offers learning opportunities on and off stage. Auditions are open to the public, regardless of previous stage experience, and all cast and crew work alongside seasoned directors, actors, and crew members. Since its founding in 1936, GBCT has truly been a theater of, by, and for the community.

"One of my favorite things about being at the theater is entertaining people and giving them a safe, great night out. It involves the whole community. People go out to eat, they come here, they see us... They laugh and learn, and we laugh and learn with them."
