Ruth Tinsdale has lucked into a pair of tickets to the opening night performance of a new play, and she drags her husband Jack to the theater as a way to celebrate their 25th Wedding Anniversary. Jack, however, would rather be home watching the seventh game of the World Series on television.

After the events, both on and off ther stage that fateful night, their lives and those of all involved are irreparably altered.
